“By the decree of the Head of State, Erlan Jaksylikovich Sarsembayev has been appointed Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” reported Akorda.
Erlan Jaksylikovich Sarsembayev was born in 1975 in the village of Oktyabr in the Talgar district of Almaty region. In 1997, he graduated from the Almaty Institute of Energy and Communications with a degree in “Radio Engineering,” and in 2000 he completed his studies at the D.A. Kunaev Humanities University.
Career
- 2002–2005 — Consultant and head of the sector in the Department of Defense and Law Enforcement of the Prime Minister's Office.
- 2005–2011 — Worked in the Senate apparatus in positions as deputy head and head of the department for interaction with committees on international affairs, defense, security, and socio-cultural development.
- 2011–2016 — Served in the National Security Committee, where he held the positions of Deputy Head and Head of the Legal Department.
- 2016–2017 — Returned to the Senate apparatus as head of the department for interaction with the committee on socio-cultural development and science.
- 2017–2019 — Deputy Head of the Senate apparatus.
- 2019–2022 — Head of the department for interaction with the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, and Security of the Senate apparatus.
- Since January 1, 2023 — Judge of the Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan.
The appointment of Erlan Sarsembayev followed the dismissal of Azamat Eskaraev from the position of Minister of Justice, which was also announced on January 9.
