At the foot of Mount Fuji, on the site of the former Higashi-Fuji factory of Toyota Motor East Japan (TMEJ), which spans 70 hectares in Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture, builders are constructing Woven City, as reported by Kazpravda.kz citing Naked-Science.

The construction of buildings for the first phase is complete, and it is expected that 100 residents will move into the city by the fall of 2025.

The city, which will ultimately accommodate 2,000 people, features wooden buildings arranged in a checkerboard pattern, framing a central square and surrounded by roadways.

The homes, primarily constructed from wood, are equipped with rooftop solar panels, and the apartments are designed to provide residents access to green terraces.

Residents will test vehicles and products from companies like Toyota and its brand Woven by Toyota (WbyT). The roads will be divided into three sections, with one section — the main street — designated for autonomous vehicles.

The secondary section will be allocated for bicycles, scooters, and other types of personal transport, while the third will be a park intended for pedestrians.
