Filming for the historical series "Golden Empire," dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the Ulus of Jochi Khan, is set to begin in February, reports Kazpravda.kz

As noted by qazaqculture.com, it was initially planned that only 40% of the filming would take place in Kazakhstan. However, the series' executive producer and director, Emre Sahin, inspired by the variety of local locations, decided to move the entire filming process to Kazakhstan.

A meeting of the creative team was held in Istanbul, where the final scripts for all six episodes were approved, the cast was determined, and the costumes, sets, and props were presented. The meeting was attended by Kazakhstan's state advisor Erlan Karin and the co-founders of Karga Seven Pictures, Emre Sahin and Fikret Manoglu.

As a result of the first wave of casting, 350 actors were approved, including 250 from Kazakhstan and 100 from Sweden, Belgium, England, Germany, the USA, and Mongolia. There will still be auditions for supporting roles.

The script was developed by an international team, including Justin Pollard ("Vikings") and Claire Mursom ("Outlaw King"), as well as Kazakh historians and experts. The foundation was based on unique materials about the history of the Ulus of Jochi, the Golden Horde, and the culture of nomadic peoples.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture announced that new films should promote the ideas of national ideology.
