Кинотеатр имени Ленина в Караганде вернули в собственность государства.

The Lenin Cinema in Karaganda, an integral part of the city's history, has been returned to state ownership, reports Kazpravda.kz citing the Prosecutor's Office of Karaganda Region.

Opened in 1960, the cinema was the first two-screen widescreen theater in Karaganda. This building has witnessed grand premieres, festivals, and film forums, becoming a hub of the city's cultural life. However, in 1998, the site was unlawfully removed from the list of historical and cultural monuments and subsequently privatized.

“The Prosecutor's Office of the Kazybek Bi District conducted a complex and lengthy effort to prove the illegality of the privatization in court. The legal proceedings lasted several months. Thanks to the evidence of violations presented, the court ruled to return the cinema to state ownership,” the prosecutors stated.

This event is considered an important step in preserving the cultural heritage of the region. The Lenin Cinema will once again become a center of cultural life in Karaganda and a place for creating new memories.
