The sequel to the cult classic film "My Name is Koja" will soon hit the screens.

The lead roles of Kozhabergen and Zhantass are played by Aikyn Yelubay and Ilyar Yeginbay. It's worth noting the striking resemblance between the actors and those from the 1963 film.
Скоро на экраны выйдет новый фильм, продолжение культовой картины «Менің атым – Қожа».

The story of a teenager with a complex character has become beloved by millions of viewers and readers for decades. This is hardly surprising. Berdibek Sokpakbayev crafted a literary masterpiece, and Abdullah Karsakbayev directed a brilliant film. Both the book and the movie gained popularity because people saw themselves, their loved ones, children, and acquaintances in the characters.

The post-war era was challenging: in addition to everyday hardships, the grief for relatives and loved ones lingered, for all those who would never see spring again. This is why Kozhabergen's longing for his father, who died on the front lines, resonated deeply with many. It was this love for his father that fueled Kozha's mischievousness, as he harbored intense hatred for Karatay, who attempted to court his mother. Like many teenagers, he expressed his defiance by acting out with Sultan. Notably, Sultan is a decidedly negative character in the book, but in the film, Abdullah Karsakbayev infused him with some positive traits. The famous quote from teacher Rahmanov: “Сұлтанның шырағын жаға алмадым” (“I couldn't ignite the fire within Sultan”) serves as a direct reference to school and educators.

In the new film, where the story of Kozhabergen continues, the characters are now 15 years old and in the eighth grade. Kozha dreams of becoming a writer and wishes to write a novel about his father, who did not return from the war. He keeps a diary where he expresses his feelings for Janar, whom he has loved since childhood, but the notebook containing his private thoughts falls into the hands of Zhantas...

Will Kozha be able to realize his dream? Can he and Zhantas, his irreconcilable enemy, become friends? What has become of Sultan’s fate? Has he managed to overcome his internal conflict and direct his potential towards a noble cause? To what extent have the authors and actors succeeded in preserving the unique vibrancy and depth of the characters? We will find out after the official premiere, which is set for March 13.

The team at Qalan, who produced the sequel to the legendary film, hopes that viewers will appreciate this intriguing version of the grown-up beloved characters' lives. The film, created over 60 years ago based on Berdibek Sokpakbayev's book “Менің атым – Қожа”, has become a classic in Kazakh cinema.
