In his parliamentary inquiry, Zhanarbek Ashimzhanov expressed his views on the development of the Kazakh film industry.
According to him, for Kazakh filmmakers to win over their audience, it is essential to focus on producing high-quality content in the state language, ensuring that films retain their national identity amidst globalization.
To achieve this, a selection system should be established, which will also address issues related to linguistics and the use of street slang on screens.
In this regard, the member of parliament called for increased support for cinema as one of the key instruments of national ideology.
“Today, we are facing the issue where audiences are shown films with profanity, poor dialogues, and borrowed plots. This harms our language and culture. Cinema is a powerful means of influencing people's consciousness. We must create conditions for our films to be of high quality and accessible to a wide audience,” – summarized the speaker.
It is worth noting that earlier, in terms of box office revenue, comedies still hold the lead in theaters.
