Kazakhstani fighter in the flyweight division UFC Asu Almaev shared his thoughts on his fellow countryman, the number two ranked welterweight Shavkat Rakhmonov, as reported by Sports.kz referencing Metaratings.ru.

“Shavkat is a bigger star than I am. Rakhmonov is a hero of our country, and we all follow and support him. He is already the next contender for the title fight.

We represent one country and one flag. If someone else were sitting here instead of me, but representing Kazakhstan, I would support them just as passionately,” said Almaev at the press conference.

We remind you that Almaev will fight Manel Kape at the UFC Vegas 103 event, which will take place on March 2 in Las Vegas (USA).

Almaev last entered the octagon in October 2024 at UFC Fight Night 245, winning against Mateus Nicolau by unanimous decision. He has a record of 21 wins and two losses.

Kape fought last in December 2024 at UFC on ESPN 63, winning against Bruno Silva by technical knockout in the third round. His record includes 20 wins and seven losses.
