Kazakh boxer Abylaihan Zhusupov secured a victory in the quarter-finals in the under 71 kilograms category at the Strandja Cup 2025 in Sofia (Bulgaria), often referred to as a mini world championship, reports Sports.kz.

In the quarter-finals of the under 71 kilograms category, he faced Ukrainian representative Alexey Shiryayev. The Kazakh boxer won by unanimous decision from the judges. The final score was 5:0.

This victory ensured the athlete a bronze medal at the mini world championship in Sofia.

Zhusupov is the holder of the "gold" from the 2024 Asian Championship in Chiang Mai (Thailand), which he earned after his opponent was disqualified for biting him following a complaint from the KFB. He is also a three-time bronze medalist from the world championships in 2017, 2019, and 2021.
