Previously, these lands were offered for sale at auction, but the bidding did not take place. Dosaev wants to take over the orchards to create a recreational area there. This means that the land will not be allocated for residential or commercial development but could be transformed into a leisure park, for example.
“I signed a letter yesterday addressed to the Prime Minister, the head of the state commission, requesting that these plots of land be transferred to the city's balance. There will be a recreational area,” Dosaev stated.
One resident of Almaty who reached out to the akim believes that instead of auctioning off the orchards, they should be handed over to individuals who can take care of their restoration.
Earlier, “Kursiv” reported that at the beginning of the year, a national company attempted to sell 1,460 hectares of apple orchards for 10 billion tenge. However, the auction also did not take place as there were no buyers for the land.
