According to the official website of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Fund for the Support of Education Infrastructure will finance the construction of 28 new schools, providing 22,000 student places.
The fund was established at the direction of the head of state and is replenished with assets seized from corrupt officials. Its primary goal is to reduce the burden on schools and eliminate emergency buildings through the construction, reconstruction, and expansion of educational institutions.
The agency reminds us that a total of 89 schools have been financed through the Fund for the Support of Education Infrastructure, accommodating nearly 100,000 student places.
Additionally, it was reported earlier in January that a new sports complex will be built in the Almaty region funded by assets returned to the state.
Law on the Return of Illegally Acquired Assets in Kazakhstan
On July 12, 2023, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law "On the Return of Illegally Acquired Assets to the State." Several accompanying laws were also signed.
In September 2023, it became known that the government decided to establish a limited liability partnership "Company for the Management of Returned Assets" with 100% state participation in its authorized capital.
The activities of the partnership were defined as managing, ensuring the safety, and selling assets returned in accordance with the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Return of Illegally Acquired Assets to the State" and other laws of the country.
In October of the same year, President Tokayev held a meeting regarding the return of illegally acquired assets, where he outlined specific instructions.
In October, the government announced that social facilities would be built in the Turkestan and Akmolinsk regions using the funds returned to the state.
In November, Bektenov held a meeting of the Commission on Asset Return Issues, where it was decided to allocate 525 billion tenge in favor of the state.
It was reported that the commission approved the construction, funded by the subjects of the law, of a sports complex for gifted child-athletes with 120 places in the city of Arkalyk, a rehabilitation center for children with musculoskeletal disorders in Astana, and a training center for people with disabilities with 400 places in Almaty.
