The leader of the men's team from Kazakhstan, 20-year-old Shaydorov, set a personal record by scoring a total of 285.10 points. He executed one of the most difficult jumping cascades, which is extremely rare in modern figure skating, and confirmed his status as one of the most promising figure skaters in the world, as noted by the ministry.
“This victory is a historic event for Kazakhstani figure skating. Exactly 10 years ago, in Seoul, Denis Ten became the champion of the Four Continents, marking a significant milestone in the history of Kazakhstani sports. Now, Mikhail Shaydorov has repeated this success, continuing the proud traditions of our country in figure skating,” — the statement says.
The “silver” medal was awarded to Cha Jun-hwan from South Korea (265.02), while the “bronze” went to Jimmy Ma from the USA (245.01).
In 2015, Denis Ten won the “gold” at the same championship with a score of 289.46 points. In 2019, Kazakhstani skater Elizabet Tursynbaeva earned a “silver” medal.
