“The impressive performance of our seniors at the World Team Championship in Prague once again showcased the strength and skill of the Kazakh chess school. In a fierce battle against the best grandmasters from 28 countries, they secured the bronze! This result not only inspires admiration but also motivates our younger generation of players. I sincerely congratulate the Kazakh seniors and wish them even more victories in the current chess season,” he noted.
According to the KFSH, the national team featured grandmasters Murtas Kazhgaleev, Pavel Kotsur, and Serikbay Temirbayev, as well as international masters Erlan Tikzhanov and Valery Min. The team captain was grandmaster Petr Kostenko. In the final round, the Kazakhs drew with the England-1 team, securing third place in the tournament.
Ultimately, the first place was taken by the team from the USA, second by Italy, and Kazakhstan came in third.
