In Almaty at the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace, during the mixed martial arts evening Octagon 70, a title fight took place where Kazakh fighters Konstantin Merkulov (5-3) and Karim Ruzbakiyev (9-2) faced off, as reported by Sports.kz.

The vacant Octagon league heavyweight championship title was on the line in this match. The bout was scheduled for five rounds and went the full distance, concluding with Ruzbakiyev winning by unanimous decision. As a result, he became the new Octagon champion in the heavyweight division.

This victory marked the tenth win in Karim Ruzbakiyev's professional MMA career. Karim Ruzbakiyev suffered his fourth defeat.
