According to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 76% of participants chose Kazakh as the testing language, 23.9% selected Russian, and 162 individuals opted for English. When submitting their applications, applicants independently selected the date, time, and location for the testing. On the first day of the UNT, 775 individuals are taking the test nationwide.
“The most popular combination of subjects has become ‘biology-chemistry’ at 17.5%. These are future medical professionals, teachers, and agricultural specialists. Following this are the combinations ‘mathematics-physics’ at 17.1% and ‘mathematics-informatics’ at 10.5%, representing future engineers and IT specialists,” the ministry reported.
The number of subjects on the UNT remains the same: three mandatory and two elective. The total number of questions is 120, including 20 on “History of Kazakhstan,” 10 on “Reading Literacy,” 10 on “Mathematical Literacy,” and 40 each on the two specialized subjects. The maximum score is 140.
The testing duration is 4 hours. For children with special educational needs, an additional 40 minutes is provided.
It is important to note that the March UNT includes individuals enrolled in universities on a full-time, fee-paying basis conditionally, graduates of previous school years and colleges, individuals of Kazakh nationality who are not citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as students in the final grades of schools wishing to enroll in universities on a fee-paying basis.
