Billionaire Elon Musk has denied a report from Reuters stating that the U.S. might cut off Ukraine's access to the Starlink satellite internet system if negotiations over a deal involving natural resources fail.
“This is false. Reuters is lying,” Musk wrote on his social media platform X on Saturday, February 22.
The agency reported the day before, citing sources, that during discussions regarding U.S. access to Ukraine's resources, the American side threatened Kyiv with the termination of access to Musk's SpaceX Starlink system.
Specifically, the issue of Starlink was raised during talks in Kyiv on February 20 between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Kurt Volker. The latter allegedly warned of the “imminent shutdown” of Starlink if a deal on rare earth metals was not signed, according to the report.
