According to the press service of the Almaty akimat, as part of the "Almaty - Our Common Home" campaign under the "Taza Kazakhstan" program, the city has begun the installation of new anti-vandal trash bins to enhance sanitary conditions and reduce street pollution. As per the approved plans, by 2025, Almaty will have 12,036 new bins with capacities of 80 and 120 liters.
The municipal infrastructure development department has stated that these bins will be installed based on requests from district akimats and are aimed at improving the comfort of city residents. To facilitate garbage collection, the bins will be equipped with 120-liter polyethylene bags.
The Almaty akimat conducted an analysis and found that existing bins with capacities ranging from 40 to 60 liters are inadequate for the high volume of waste on the city's busy streets. Consequently, city authorities decided to replace the old bins with larger models.
In 2024, city officials had to allocate additional routes for emptying bins due to the rapid filling of existing containers, the agency notes.
The Almaty akimat reminds citizens of the launch of the "Almaty - Our Common Home" campaign under the "Taza Kazakhstan" program, which will take place from March 1 to April 1, 2025. The aim is to enhance the ecological culture and responsibility of residents. Overall, the "Almaty - Our Common Home" campaign is divided into four main stages.
The first stage, "Clean Streets," includes the cleaning of bus stops, traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, road signs, lighting fixtures, and the installation of new bins in public areas, among other activities.
Additionally, today the Almaty akimat shared details about the renovation of the State Academic Russian Theater for Children and Youth named after Natalia Sats.
Earlier, Almaty's akim, Erbolat Dosaev, during a meeting with residents of the Medeu district, discussed the planned projects for the area this year. Among them are a new maternity hospital, the improvement of the Terennkur, and Dostyk Avenue.
Previously, the akimat reported on plans to develop the Almalinsky district this year, which includes the construction of a House of Students, a new maternity hospital, kindergartens, and a school.
In early February, the akimat showcased a facility renovated with funds from the "Budget of People's Participation" in the Bostandyk district and shared what other changes have occurred in the area.
