This year marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan — a unique institution that has played a key role in strengthening interethnic harmony and national unity. Over three decades, the APK has become a platform for dialogue among peoples, promoting the development of a culture of tolerance and mutual understanding in the country. In honor of this anniversary, a series of festive events were held in the Abai region, including the unveiling of a memorial plaque, a forum, and the recognition of citizens who contributed to societal development.
One of the central events was the unveiling of a memorial plaque at the regional House of Friendship. This event symbolized the recognition of the APK's achievements in building a unified and cohesive society. Similar events took place across the country, highlighting the significance of the Assembly in maintaining peace and harmony in Kazakhstan.
Following the opening ceremony, the forum "30 Years on the Path of Unity and Accord" took place, gathering public figures, media representatives, and APK members. The official part of the event began with the performance of the State Anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan, after which the Deputy Akim of the Abai region, Yasulan Sarsebaev, read a congratulatory address from the country's president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In his message, the head of state emphasized the importance of the APK in strengthening national unity and public accord:
"The Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan is a unique institution that ensures constructive dialogue between the state and society. Its activities are aimed at promoting the values of civic identity, mutual respect, patriotism, and responsible citizenship. Today, the APK makes a significant contribution to the implementation of priority state tasks and actively participates in the socio-economic transformation of the country," the president's message stated.
A significant moment of the forum was the awarding of citizens who made substantial contributions to the development of public accord and national unity. Honorable awards were presented to representatives from science, education, culture, and leaders of ethnic and cultural associations.
"Kazakhstan has always been and remains an example of peace and good neighborliness. Today, while celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, we emphasize that unity, mutual respect, and friendship among peoples are the main values of our society. These are indeed the foundation for sustainable development and prosperity of the country," noted Yasulan Sarsebaev in his speech.
Speakers at the forum included the rector of Alikhan Bokeikhan University and APK member Alexander Koichubaev, director of IT School-Lyceum No. 50 Aizhan Kuanyshbaeva, Semey Medical University student Muhammad Yusuf, and student of the M.O. Auezov Pedagogical College Ulyana Abasheva. They emphasized the importance of interethnic consent, respect for cultural diversity, and the active participation of youth in shaping a society based on the principles of tolerance and partnership.
"The Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan is a pillar of stability and unity in the country. Today, it is a unique institution, a symbol of peace and accord. Over the years of independence, Kazakhstan's economy has significantly grown, and the volume of foreign investments has exceeded $400 billion. Additionally, the country has become a member of international organizations and is strengthening its position on the world stage," noted Alexander Koichubaev.
After the forum concluded, participants honored the memory of the great thinker by laying flowers at the monument of Abai Kunanbayuly. It is important to highlight that the celebration of the APK anniversary in Semey extended beyond official events. The city also hosted motivational training for youth and a festival of folk arts.
In total, more than 300 events are planned in the region as part of the anniversary celebrations, including charitable initiatives, public initiatives, and cultural and educational projects. All of these are aimed at strengthening unity, accord, and civic solidarity, further confirming the significance of the APK in building a peaceful and stable society.
