“Mentors can be adult citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who meet the requirements set for guardians. After completing mandatory training, mentors will receive a certificate confirming their qualifications. An official mentorship agreement will then be established between the mentor, the guardianship authority, and educational organizations,” the message states.
According to the ministry, the training will be conducted by mentorship organizations using their own funds.
The head of the Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nasyimzhan Ospanova emphasized that this measure will create an effective mentorship system that supports the successful socialization of children and prepares them for independent living.
In 2024, Kazakhstan introduced the mentorship institute aimed at providing individual support to children in orphanages and those left without parental care. This mechanism will help prepare children from educational organizations for independent living starting from the age of 10.
