The Microsoft 365 service, which manages applications like Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, announced an update on X (formerly Twitter) at 5:01 PM Eastern Time (3:01 AM Astana time), stating that it "identified a potential cause of the outage and rolled back the suspected problematic code to mitigate the effects."
While most outage reports were related to Outlook, Microsoft confirmed that "this issue affects various Microsoft 365 services," and assured that system recovery is being monitored.
Users also reported outages in Microsoft-owned Xbox services on X.

According to DownDetector, the first reports of issues started coming in at 3:30 PM ET (1:30 AM Astana time), with the peak occurring at 4:00 PM ET (2:00 AM Astana time), when over 37,000 complaints were recorded.
“Even attempting to use the Authenticator app for Outlook leads to an error message due to the current outage,” wrote one user on X.
In recent weeks, users have experienced intermittent issues with Outlook. In 2023 and 2024, Microsoft faced significant global outages that took several hours to resolve.
On November 26, Outlook and Teams services were restored after more than 24 hours of technical difficulties.
