Time zone change: A Kazakhstani lost his appeal against the government.

The Astana court has reviewed a case regarding a lawsuit against the government concerning the change of the time zone in Kazakhstan, as reported by NUR.KZ, citing the capital's courts.
Изменение часового пояса: гражданин Казахстана не смог оспорить решение правительства в апелляционном суде.

The Astana court examined the case filed by a Kazakhstani citizen against the government, seeking to declare illegal and annul the decree "On the Procedure for Calculating Time on the Territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and decree No. 20 dated January 19, 2024, regarding its amendments (NPA).

"The Interdistrict Civil Court previously rejected the claim. The decision of the first instance court remains unchanged," the press service of the Astana courts reported.

The court rulings have come into legal force.

Recall that at the beginning of October, it became known that a Kazakhstani individual had filed a lawsuit against the government represented by the Ministry of Trade and Integration regarding the change of the time zone in Kazakhstan.

Later, it was reported that the specialized interdistrict administrative court of Astana reviewed the claim to declare the results of the petition to revert the time back illegal.

The court emphasized at that time that when considering claims challenging the decision based on the results of the petition, it only evaluates compliance with the procedure and timelines for considering the petition.

At the end of December, we reported that the court had issued a ruling on the claim of the Kazakhstani citizen against the government. It was stated that the basis of the claim was the inconsistency of the time zone change with astronomical time, the lack of authority of the respondent to make such decisions, such as changing more than half of the text, which led to the issuance of a new NPA. The court denied the claim.

Additionally, starting from March 1, a unified time zone UTC+5 has been in effect in Kazakhstan.

In early September, the Minister of Trade and Integration announced that there are no plans to change the time zone in Kazakhstan in the coming years.
