The Human Rights Commissioner in Kazakhstan has encountered fraudsters.

The Human Rights Commissioner in Kazakhstan, Artur Lastayev, reported that fraudsters have begun to exploit his name and voice for their schemes, according to NUR.KZ, citing the ombudsman's press service.
Уполномоченный по правам человека в Казахстане стал жертвой мошенничества.

"Dear Kazakhstanis, please be cautious! Scammers have reached a new level: they are now not only faking personal data and photos but even my voice. Several people have reported receiving calls from me when, in fact, I did not call them," – warned Artur Lastaev.

In such cases, as explained on the ombudsman's website, deepfake technology or voice substitution using AI is employed.

"Be vigilant! Do not trust suspicious calls, especially if you are asked to transfer money, provide personal information, or take urgent actions.

Beware of dubious links and files that may contain malware.

Always verify information, especially from unfamiliar individuals. Do not rush to make decisions if you receive unexpected requests over the phone. Remember: your vigilance is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from scammers!" – stated in the press service of Lastaev.
