In Azerbaijan, a proposal has been made to fund women's pension accounts using contributions from husbands who prevent them from working.

In the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, a proposal has been made to legally require husbands to allocate a portion of their salaries to the pension funds of their non-working wives. This initiative was presented by Deputy Mubariz Gurbanly at a conference held in the context of the Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty, as reported by Report.
В Азербайджане предложили финансировать пенсионный фонд женщин за счёт мужей, которые препятствуют их трудовой деятельности.

The statement concerns men who prohibit their wives from working.

Some men do not allow their wives to work, which subsequently has a negative impact on her pension security. In such cases, a portion of the man's salary should be allocated to the woman's pension fund. This needs to be enshrined in legislation. The man should not oppose this, as he himself deprives his spouse of the opportunity to work, – stated the deputy.

In the summer of 2023, Azerbaijan lifted the list of professions prohibited for women from the Soviet era. Azerbaijani women gained the right to work as bulldozer drivers, divers, and in bakeries and confectioneries. However, the country still maintains a ban on any work for women if their men wish so.
