The WBO/IBF world champion in the middleweight division from Kazakhstan, Janibek Alimkhanuly, expressed his desire to fight against the Mexican Saul Alvarez at a press conference in the capital, as reported by Sports.kz, referencing Sportnews.kz.
It is worth noting that the unified super middleweight champion, Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs), and the WBA champion two divisions lower, American Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), are set to fight in September in Las Vegas (USA).
“First, we need to gather all the championship belts in this weight class, and then we can think about moving to 168 pounds, the super middleweight division, and 'punishing' 'Canelo'. Golovkin has unfinished business with Alvarez, and I would like to complete GGG's legacy. As for Crawford, he is moving up from another weight class. Likely, the financial aspect becomes a priority in that situation,” said Alimkhanuly.
We remind you that Qazaq Style will defend the WBO and IBF world championship titles in the middleweight division on April 5 at the "Barys Arena". Alimkhanuly will face the French athlete of Congolese descent, Anauel Ngamissenge, in the main event. The boxing evening will be available live via the ESPN+ platform.
