The ascent took place on February 26, shortly before the celebration of Thanksgiving and the anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. The sports expedition was organized with the support of the Kazakhstan Mountaineering Federation, and was led by the honored master of sports Makstut Zhumaev.

Despite strong winds and a lack of oxygen, the expedition members unfurled the national flag of Kazakhstan and the flag of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan at the summit of Kilimanjaro, symbolizing the spirit of unity and friendship among nations.

“Makstut Zhumaev is a mountaineer who has conquered all 14 of the world's eight-thousanders. He is the 12th climber in the world to achieve this feat without the use of supplemental oxygen,” emphasized Azilkhanov.

Earlier, “Kursiv” reported that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated the citizens of Kazakhstan on Thanksgiving Day. The President expressed gratitude to his compatriots for their honest work for the benefit of the country.

“This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, which has been making an invaluable contribution to strengthening mutual understanding and harmony in our society,” stated the head of state.

Tokayev also emphasized that the country faces significant goals in creating and implementing new reforms.
