KTZh aims to enforce stricter penalties for violations of railway crossing regulations.

KTZ is advocating for stricter penalties for drivers who violate railway crossing rules in Kazakhstan. According to the national carrier, there have been four accidents on railway tracks since the beginning of the year, endangering people's lives.
КТЖ стремится к ужесточению наказаний за нарушение правил проезда через железнодорожные переезды.

“KTZh plans to approach government authorities with a request to tighten penalties for violations of railway crossing rules. This initiative aims to enhance safety on railway tracks and protect the lives and health of passengers and railway workers,” the statement reads.

The company believes that drivers will be more likely to adhere to traffic rules if the penalties are stricter.

“In January-February 2025, there were 4 accidents at railway crossings due to violations of traffic regulations by drivers, which posed a threat to the safety of passengers and railway workers. On March 1, a collision occurred at the railway crossing of the Tendyk station between a truck and a freight train due to the driver's fault. As a result, members of the locomotive crew were injured, and both the locomotive and 11 empty cars derailed,” KTZh reminded.

According to the national company, there were a total of 26 traffic accidents at railway crossings in the republic last year.

Previously, “Kursiv” wrote about a collision between a locomotive and a diesel train near the Sarysu junction. As a result of the accident, several members of the locomotive crew sustained moderate injuries. Additionally, several cars overturned due to the strong impact.
