Kazakhstan's Ministry of Finance has no plans to increase salaries for government employees.

The Ministry of Finance does not intend to raise salaries for Kazakhstan's civil servants. This was announced by the head of the department, Madi Takiyev, during a discussion in the corridors of the Mazhilis.
Министерство финансов Казахстана не намерено увеличивать зарплаты для государственных служащих.

Journalists asked the minister if the Ministry of Finance plans to increase the salaries of public servants, in light of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's remarks that their wages should be competitive.

“Such a question has probably not been considered. We (in the ministry. – ed.) have not discussed this,” replied Takiyev.

“Kursiv” reported that at the end of October, Minister Madi Takiyev made a statement indicating that the Treasury Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan would prohibit bonuses for public servants. He also explained that such a ban would help return saved funds to the state budget.

However, later the agency announced that they would not prohibit the use of saved funds over the year for bonuses to public servants.

The head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev believes that a ban on bonuses in government agencies will lead to a situation where no one will want to work in public service. According to him, to enhance the efficiency of the civil service, the salaries of ordinary employees must be competitive, and bonuses play a crucial role in this process.
