The Minister of Defense briefed the President:
- on the state of the army's combat readiness and new approaches to troop training;
- on the fulfillment of the state defense order;
- on social and ideological work;
- on the development of military infrastructure.
Specific details of the report have not been disclosed. Tokayev assigned several tasks to the minister, one of which is to enhance social and ideological efforts.
“The Supreme Commander-in-Chief Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set specific tasks for the minister to increase the army's combat potential, further digitalize management processes, develop Special Operations Forces, and strengthen social and ideological work,” reports Akorda.
Last time, Zhaksylykov was with the president for a report in November 2024. At that time, Tokayev instructed to work more closely with Kazakhstan's defense enterprises, develop territorial defense and Special Operations Forces, and also enhance socio-legal work.
This year, the Ministry of Defense plans to draft nearly 42,000 citizens into the army. This was reported by Kursiv. The Mazhilis, in turn, approved the draft of 2,000 reservists this year.
Earlier, “Kursiv” reported that the Ministry of Defense will contract with Kazakhstan citizens for voluntary military service. Military reservists will receive a minimum salary, and 3.5 billion tenge will be allocated from the state budget for their maintenance.
