Children from orphanage No. 1 will not be relocated from Almaty to Konayev.

Following a major scandal, the orphans from Almaty’s Children's Home No. 1 will not be relocated to Konayev. This was announced by the Commissioner for Children's Rights, Dinara Zakiyeva.
Воспитанников детдома №1 не планируют переселять из Алматы в Конаев.

Zakieva met with the students of orphanage No. 1 and the akim of the Almaty region Marat Sultan gaziev.

“The children living in the Baganashyl orphanage will remain in the same institution. A new building will be provided for the students of the Nussipbaev boarding school. Earlier, I wrote about the difficult conditions and lack of facilities for the children there. One section of the new building will be designated as the Central Admission Center (CAC), where children from all districts of the region will be accepted, so they won’t have to be transported to the city,” the children’s rights commissioner announced on Instagram.

“Kursiv” reported on the scandal surrounding orphanage No. 1, which is located in the prestigious Baganashyl area of Almaty. Lawyers and activists expressed outrage that “a desirable piece of land is being taken away from the children,” leading to their relocation to the Almaty region. The new orphanage is planned to be situated 20 kilometers from Konayev, in the village of “Zarechnoye.”

The children complained that “they were forbidden to communicate with the media,” and well-known advocates Aruzhan Sain and Anna Chernova became involved in the matter.
