One border crossing point between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be closed until May.

The "Tazhen" checkpoint on the border between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will be closed for three months due to reconstruction, as reported by NUR.KZ, citing the Committee of State Revenues.

The crossing through the "Tazhen" checkpoint is temporarily suspended.

"Comprehensive modernization of 9 automobile checkpoints on the border with China, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan continues at the customs posts located on the external border of the EAEU.

In agreement with the Uzbek side (through note exchanges), to ensure the safety of individuals crossing the "Tazhen" checkpoint during the reconstruction period, as of February 1, 2025, for a duration of 3 months, the crossing of individuals, as well as the passage of passenger vehicles, buses, and cargo vehicles up to 3.5 tons through the "Tazhen" (RK) – "Daut Ata" (RU) checkpoints is temporarily suspended, - the statement notes.

According to the agency, the redistribution of the flow of people and transport will take place through the following checkpoints:

The "Tazhen" post, according to information on the KGD website, is the largest international checkpoint for multilateral cargo and passenger automobile communication located on the external border of the Eurasian Economic Union with the Republic of Uzbekistan, facilitating the transit of goods not only through Kazakhstan but also to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union, including within the framework of the international project "Economic Belt of the Great Silk Road."

It is worth noting that previously, automobile checkpoints were closed on the border of Kazakhstan with China.

Earlier, the KGD informed how long the repairs at the checkpoints on the border of Kazakhstan with China, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan would last. It was reported that repairs were conducted at 9 automobile checkpoints in 2024.
