Kazakhstan and the UK will launch new educational programs.

The Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan held official meetings with the leaders of prominent universities in the United Kingdom, as reported by DKnews.kz.

From January 23 to 25, 2025, a delegation from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, led by Minister Sayasat Nurbek, visited several higher education institutions in the United Kingdom as part of a working visit. During the visit, the minister held meetings with leaders of prominent universities, including Cardiff, Glasgow, and Heriot-Watt Universities.

On January 23, Sayasat Nurbek visited Cardiff University, where he held discussions with the university's president, Wendy Larner. The parties talked about strengthening collaboration in research and academic exchanges, as well as the prospects for implementing joint educational programs.

On January 24, a visit to the University of Glasgow, one of the leading institutions in the Russell Group, took place. The meeting focused on plans for further cooperation in higher education. The University of Glasgow expressed its intention to establish a branch at one of the Kazakhstani universities, which would be a significant step towards developing international educational partnerships.

On January 25, the Minister visited Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, which has been a long-term partner of Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanova. Current projects and opportunities for expanding cooperation in research and educational initiatives were discussed.

Special attention during the visit was given to showcasing the research potential of universities, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

The minister also met with Kazakhstani students studying under the international Bolashak program, as well as with foreign students, and spoke at a meeting of the Central Asian Students Association at the University of Edinburgh. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of the internationalization of education and science as key factors for the sustainable development of Kazakhstan and encouraged students to actively participate in the development of scientific initiatives.

The working visit of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, marked an important step in strengthening international cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom in the fields of science and higher education.
