Kazakh boxer Aibek Oralbay competed in the final of the "Strandja Cup" in Sofia (Bulgaria), which is also known as the small world championship, reports Sports.kz.
In the final match in the over 92-kilogram weight category, Oralbay faced Uzbek fighter Jahongir Zokirov. The outcome of this clash was a surprising victory for the boxer from Uzbekistan by a split decision from the judges. In the first round, Oralbay experienced a knockdown.
As a result, Jahongir Zokirov claimed the "gold" of the small world championship, while Aibek Oralbay finished his participation in the tournament with a silver medal. It is worth noting that Zokirov is considered the successor to the renowned Uzbek heavyweight Bahodir Jalolov. As for Oralbay, he is the captain of the Kazakhstan national team. In amateur boxing, Aibek has been a two-time Asian champion — in 2022 and 2024.
