Renowned Russian boxer and State Duma deputy Nikolai Valuev commented on the fact that the entourage of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky brought along the WBC championship belt of Alexander Usyk to negotiations with US leader Donald Trump, as reported by Sports.kz referencing Sport24.ru.
Recall that on February 28, Zelensky arrived in Washington, where he was set to sign an agreement on the extraction of rare earth metals, but the negotiations ended with a scandalous departure of the Ukrainian after a heated exchange with Trump and US Vice President JD Vance.
“Take it this way — Donald Fredovich took the title of absolute world champion without a fight (smiling). Well done, no one has managed to do that before. This can be etched in the annals of history,” — Valuev is quoted by RIA Novosti.
It is noteworthy that Usyk presented the championship belt to Zelensky in August 2024. He won the WBC title on May 19 of last year, defeating British fighter Tyson Fury (first fight) by split decision.
