According to the Ministry of Labor, since the beginning of the year, state benefits and payments from the State Social Insurance Fund for childbirth and childcare until the child reaches the age of 1.5 years have covered 170.8 thousand people for a total amount of 80.1 billion tenge, reports Kazpravda.kz

In January 2025, 33.7 thousand people received childbirth benefits from the republican budget, amounting to 6 billion tenge.

Individuals (families) with live-born, adopted, and foster children, as well as stepchildren not accounted for in another parent's family, are entitled to receive childcare benefits in cases where the person caring for the child is not a participant in the mandatory social insurance system. During the reporting period, 123 thousand people received childcare benefits until the child reached the age of 1.5 years, totaling 3.6 billion tenge.

The amounts of state benefits for childbirth and childcare are established based on the monthly calculation indicator (MCI) approved for the corresponding financial year by the law on the republican budget. Since the beginning of 2025, the amounts of state benefits have been indexed by 6.5%.

The amounts of the childbirth benefit are as follows:

- for the first, second, and third child – 38 MCI or 149,416 tenge;

- for the fourth child and beyond – 63 MCI or 247,716 tenge.

The childcare benefit until the child reaches the age of 1.5 years is paid monthly in the following amounts:

- for the first child – 5.76 MCI or 22,648 tenge;

- for the second child – 6.81 MCI or 26,777 tenge;

- for the third child – 7.85 MCI or 30,866 tenge;

- for the fourth child and beyond – 8.90 MCI or 34,995 tenge.

Additionally, working citizens receive a social payment for all days of maternity leave from the State Social Insurance Fund in connection with loss of income due to pregnancy and childbirth, or adoption of a newborn child (children). The amount of the payment depends on the average monthly income from which social contributions were made to the State Social Insurance Fund in the last 12 months prior to maternity leave and the number of days of incapacity for work.

This one-time payment has been received by 23.6 thousand people since the beginning of the year, totaling 33.3 billion tenge, which is 4% more than the amount for the same period in 2024. The average amount of the designated payment was 1,714,618 tenge.

Furthermore, from the State Social Insurance Fund, a monthly social payment due to loss of income related to childcare until the child is one and a half years old is assigned to participants in the social insurance system from the date of the child's birth. The amount of the payment is 40% of the average monthly income from which social contributions were made to the State Social Insurance Fund over the last 2 years. In the case of multiple births, the payment is assigned separately for each child.

In 2025, this payment has been assigned to 24.2 thousand people, with an average monthly payment amounting to 93,740 tenge. The total payment reached 37.2 billion tenge, which is 21% more than the amount for the same period in 2024, the ministry noted.
