The launch of the pilot project "Issuance of passports and identity cards to citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan" through documentation terminals using biometric identification is being discussed on the "Open Regulations" portal, as reported by a correspondent from Kazpravda.kz
It is expected that terminals will be installed in the Public Service Centers (CОNs) as an alternative to the existing process in cities of republican significance and the capital, administrative centers of the regions, as well as in the city of Baikonur from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
The project document highlights that the possibility of connecting other devices to the terminal will be excluded, as well as storing photographs, signature samples, and other personal data on the terminal.
The operator will ensure the acceptance of state duty payments for the issuance of passports and/or identity cards, payment control, network isolation and segmentation, as well as compliance with all technical requirements for the equipment.
According to the draft order, the police departments of the regions, the cities of Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs representative office in Baikonur, will be tasked with ensuring the quality and timely processing of applications received through the "Electronic Application Documentation Terminal for Issuance of Identity Documents".
